Stretch the boundaries of time and space
Introducing the shape of things to come: the Stauer Stadion Chronograph
In the universe of vintage timepieces, the oval is a rarity. I’ve browsed my share of watch shops around the world and any time I spot an oval, I’m compelled to look closer. One dealer in Zurich caught me staring and brought out a case of his most “exotic ellipticals.” Among his treasures was an ancient 18th-century pocket watch and a 1970 oddity that looked like a relic from a UFO. Thanks, but no thanks I told him. That’s when I realized that instead of searching for my ideal oval, I should make my own.
Our Stauer Stadion Chronograph is nontraditional take on a classic design. I challenged our watchmakers to stretch the boundaries of time and they did not disappoint. You can see that all of the requisite luxury details are present and accounted for including a radiant dial, classic Roman numerals, blued Breguet-style hands and a trio of traditional complications. In addition to a pair of gold finished pushers, we also included an elegant onion crown and traditional loop lugs for the black leather band.
But it's the bold shape shift that makes the Stadion so unique. The 46mm wide oval — also known as a stadium style case — gives this watch an instant boost of authority. Like a broad-shouldered bodyguard, the gold-finished stainless steel balances formidable and fashionable to make a strong style statement.
You can find plenty of watchmakers today who think bigger and bulkier is the only way to go. But the Stadion prefers to “go wide,” adding size without sacrificing the smooth lines and sophisticated profile of a classic vintage timepiece. It’s a must-have for collectors who have been searching for a standout watch that connects the look of the past with the shape of things to come.
