In 1937, Bette Davis was a “Marked Woman,” Humphrey Bogart played gangster Baby Face Martin in “Dead End,” and the Marx Brothers made “A Day at the Races.” That same year, Studebaker invented the modern pickup truck with the 1937 Studebaker Coupe Express— the first to combine the styling of a passenger car with a full-size truck bed.
The Studebaker Corporation, founded by five brothers in South Bend, Indiana, was one of the great American car companies, bursting with innovation. We honor the boys’ forward thinking with this 1:18 scale model Studebaker Coupe Express in burgundy, with hood, doors and trunk that all open and front wheels that turn, just like the real thing. This forefather of every pickup truck you see on the road today is a piece of stylish, hardworking history.
