The Tale of Peter Rabbit, written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter is one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, selling over 45 million copies around the world. The enchanting tale tells the story of a very mischievous rabbit and the trouble he encounters in Mr. McGregor’s vegetable garden. Potter created the character of Peter Rabbit in 1893 in a letter she wrote to cheer up Noel Moore, the five year old son of her former governess, who was recovering from a bout of scarlet fever. The real Peter was Potter’s pet rabbit called Peter Piper. Potter adored her pet, taking him everywhere for nine years.
